Rooting your smartphone is certainly not for everyone. However, for those who do like to root, it can become a must-have feature. This is not that surprising as the level of adjustment and tweaking which can be done once a device is rooted is significant. This increased ability doesn’t only come from the act of rooting but also from the many tools that can be used once a device is rooted. One of the arguably most well-known is that of Xposed. As such, when Android updated to Android 5.0 (Lollipop), there was some debate over how likely Xposed would be to work. Changing form KitKat’s dalvik to Lollipop’s ART Runtime was the big issue.
Well, needless to say, Xposed did finally become compatible with Android Lollipop and much to the happiness of many rooters. However, when it first became live, Xposed was only compatible with ARM v7 devices and not those running on a 64-bit processor like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and partner device, the Galaxy S6 Edge. In fact, for these two particular devices, the issue was much more prevalent as well as the 64-bit nature, Samsung’s Android flavor, TouchWiz, posed its own problems
Well, for those running a Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge it does look like the wait is over. An unofficial version of Xposed has become available for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Now, although, this is unofficial, it does come from wanam, who is known for his work with Xposed for Samsung devices in the past. As such, this is a good tool for those looking to run a variant of the Xposed framework on a Galaxy S6. wanam notes that it has been testing on the G920F model but should support all of the S6 variants too. For those thinking about giving this a try, then as always, it would be wise to expect some bugs. Although, it looks like it is receiving very regular updates as the Xposed for S6 has only been live for a couple of days and daily updates have been posted.
