Verizon Wireless Reportedly Drops Xperia Z3v From Lineup

Sony’s Xperia Z3v device which was Verizon Wireless’ version of the 2014 flagship Xperia Z3, has reportedly just been dropped from the Verizon Wireless lineup. Something similar to this happened earlier in the year with the Xperia Z3 over on T-Mobile’s network where it had been pulled after being on the network for only six months, but then was later brought back at a lower price point. It’s unclear whether or not Verizon plans on doing the same thing or whether the lift on the device was due to stock issues, but one thing is apparently clear is that Verizon is no longer selling the Xperia Z3v.

These details are according to statements from individuals who claim to have contacted Verizon Wireless support who is said to have confirmed the information, stating that the Xperia Z3v is indeed no longer an available device. That doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t find the Xperia Z3v in any physical Verizon Wireless retail stores, but it’s apparently been pulled down from the website and can no longer be purchased there like it could have been before. It’s also no longer available on Amazon as the listings mention they’re out of stock. This could be a move leading up to Verizon’s launch of the Xperia Z4v, which will be the Verizon model of the Xperia Z4 in Japan or otherwise known as the Xperia Z3+ device here in the U.S.

The Xperia Z4v is thought to be launching sometime this Summer, but unfortunately there hasn’t been any mention of an exact release date which means they may or may not launch it before Sony’s IFA event this year. What’s odd is that Verizon would decide to pull a device even in light of a coming follow-up. Verizon could sell both devices with the older model being heavily discounted to give subscribers choice. This isn’t uncommon and happens with other OEM models, which makes it curious Verizon would completely wipe the Xperia Z3v from the lineup. In any case, it won’t be too long before customers will be able to get their hands on the brand new model phone (the Xperia Z4v) which will be sporting the Snapdragon 810 processor.
