We’re seeing more and more Cyanogen OS-powered smartphones out in the market these days. YU has announced two devices thus far, the Yureka and Yuphoria, both of which are powered by Cyanogen OS. Smartfren handset is also sporting this Android-powered OS, and the international variant of ZUK Z1 is in that same boat. These are only some examples of Cyanogen OS-powered devices, and a UK-based smartphone OEM has just announced yet another such handset, read on.
Wileyfox is a company located in the United Kingdom. If you haven’t heard of this company just yet, that’s perfectly normal considering they’ve just announced their first two handsets, the Wileyfox Swift and Storm. The Wileyfox Swift sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics rendering. The Wileyfox Swift also sports a 13-megapixel camera on its back, and a 5-megapixel snapper up front, while it ships with Cyanogen OS 12.1 on top of Android. Another thing worth mentioning here is the fact that this device offers two SIM card slots, if that’s something you need in a smartphone.
The Wileyfox Storm, on the other hand, is slightly bigger than its sibling. This handset sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels this handset, and the device also ships with a 20-megapixel shooter on its back. The 8-megapixel snapper can be found up front, and this is a dual-SIM device, just like its brother.
That being said, let’s talk about the pricing of these two smartphones. The Wileyfox Swift will cost £129 in the UK, and will launch this September. The Wileyfox Storm, on the other hand, will be priced at £199, and will be released in October. Now, both of these phones are quite affordable, but the competition is fierce. Wileyfox isn’t exactly a renowned brand in the smartphone world (they’ve just released their first devices), but it will be interesting to see if they can compete with other OEMs.
