Xiaomi Mi 5 Rumored To Sport 4GB Of RAM, Snapdragon 820

Xiaomi did launch a number of compelling smartphones this year, but the company still hasn’t released their 2015 flagship, the Mi 5. The Xiaomi Mi 4 was announced back in July 2014, and consumers are eagerly awaiting its successor. We’ve seeing a lot of Mi 5 leaks in the last couple of months, and even the Mi 5 Plus has been mentioned on various occasions. Unfortunately, we still don’t know when will Xiaomi pull the trigger and release this handset / these handsets. The company is rumored to release the Mi 5 in October, and Mi 5 Plus in November, but we can’t confirm that, of course.

That being said, new Xiaomi Mi 5 spec leak has emerged, and according to it, the Mi 5 will be a beast of a smartphone. According to the rumor, the Mi 5 will sport a 5.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 4GB of RAM and 16 or 64GB of non-expandable internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit SoC will reportedly fuel this handset, though that’s highly unlikely considering that chip will be available in Q1 2016. The 16-megapixel OIS camera has also been mentioned in this leak, same goes for a dual-LED flash. The 3,030mAh battery will be available on the inside, and a TYPE-C USB 3.0 port and a fingerprint scanner will also be a part of this package. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 running on top of it. That’s not all though, the rumor says that the device will be only 5.3mm thin, and that it will cost $400, which seems like a killer price for such a handset.

There you have it, these are the rumored Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications. If these specs are accurate, the Mi 5 will be a true beast of a device. It is hard to believe the phone will ship with the Snapdragon 820 though, that chip has been confirmed to be available in Q1 2016, and Xiaomi definitely won’t wait that long to release the Mi 5. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the company’s 2015 flagship, and you can expect it to launch within two months. Either way, stay tuned for more info, we’ll report back as soon as some additional Xiaomi news surface.
