Asus ZenFone Selfie (3GB/32GB) Listed On Flipkart At $275

Taiwanese tech company Asus introduced its selfie-centric smartphone, the ZenFone Selfie, in India back in July this year, at its Zen Festival event in the capital city of New Delhi. The phone was eventually launched in August at a price-tag of Rs. 15,999 ($245). The USP (Unique Selling Point) of the device is its 13-megapixel front-facing selfie-cam, in addition to the traditional primary camera on the rear, which also comes with a 13-megapixel sensor. While the original version of the ZenFone Selfie came with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage space, Asus has now introduced a beefier version of the device with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage space at a price of Rs. 17,999 ($275). The new version of the device comes in three different color options – Pure White, Chic Pink and Aqua Blue, all of which are currently listed on Flipkart at the aforesaid price. The 2 GB versions meanwhile, are currently listed for preorder, and will be available from the 30th of this month.

Coming to the hardware specs of the ZenFone Selfie, the device features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC, which comes with an embedded 64-bit octa-core CPU clocked at a maximum of 1.7 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. As mentioned above, the device comes in two different versions, with the $245 variant available with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, while the $275 version comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The smartphone will run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Zen UI 2.0 overlayed. The handset will also come with a 3,000 mAh battery and LTE connectivity. The USP of the ZenFone Selfie of course, is the rather large sensor on the front-facing camera, and being a selfie-centric smartphone, there’s also a front-facing selfie-flash. The device also comes with laser auto-focus for its rear-facing camera, much like the ZenFone 2 Laser devices.

The ZenFone range of smartphones from Asus are available exclusively on Flipkart, India’s largest online marketplace. The company already sells its ZenFone 2 and ZenFone 2 Laser smartphones through a deal with the online retailer, which makes the devices exclusive to e-commerce outlet in the first few weeks of their release.
