Earlier today ZTE and AT&T announced that they had teamed up together to bring to the market Mobley, a mobile hotspot for your car. Well, cars are not the only things becoming connected and as the connectivity reaches every aspect of our lives, this is not the only product AT&T has announced an association with today.
This morning at CTIA in Las Vegas, AT&T and GreenIQ also announced the launch of the 3G enabled GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub. As the name clearly suggests, this is a hub which is designed for your garden and to monitor all the connected aspects of your garden, ensuring it runs as smoothly as possible. If you are wondering whether you need such an item, then the AT&T announcement this morning notes that the Garden Smart Hub will be able to manage your irrigation systems, as well as monitor water use levels and everything else connected-garden related. The device is said to be able to monitor multiple lawns at the same time and ensure water usage is kept to a minimum. Not to mention, the smart hub is also able to connect to any additional smart products that you might have in your garden, such as garden lightning and so on. It is even said to be able to offer early warnings of damaged pipes all with a view to saving the consumer money.
The GreenIQ Garden Smart Hub was actually unveilled by GreenIQ last year, however, today’s announcements marks the 3G empowering of the device and as to be expected, the device is connected exclusively on AT&T. According to Chris Penrose, SVP, Internet of Things Solutions for AT&T “We share a vision with GreenIQ. We want to bring greater connectivity to the home — both indoors and outdoors — so customers can lead a more connected life. We’re proud to be the only U.S. wireless network provider for the GreenIQ connected product.”
As you would expect, the Garden Smart Hub does come with its own app, although, only the iOS app has been launched so far. The press release does detail though that the Android version of the app will be available before the end of this year.
