If your personal career path has you working in hazardous environments then chances are you are unable to enjoy real expensive pieces of tech at the job site. This includes handsets, devices that is shown off constantly leaving you to either bite the bullet and risk your new expensive handset at the exposure of hazardous locations or buying a bulky case that will protect your device under certain cases. Well, if you’re looking for the best of both worlds and happen to be a Verizon customer then we have some good news. Today we’re learning that the rugged CAT S50 is heading to the Verizon carrier.
When you’re working in a field like construction, having a smartphone isn’t easy. You spend a pretty penny for the latest device and then you either have two choices. Hope and pray that nothing happens to your device while on the job or purchase a rugged case in which you hope and pray that it follows through with its guarantees. It wasn’t very long ago that CAT revealed a smartphone of their own that was made to be rugged and could handle the daily duties while on a rough and cautious job. This device is known as the CAT S50 and it brings in some decent specifications all the while keeping it protected from the different elements.
This CAT S50 handset features a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 720×1280 and don’t worry about the display, it’s not going to be getting scratched or scuffed up. If we crack open the device, something that you’re not going to be able to easily with the CAT S50, we’ll find that the device is running off a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU with an Adreno 350 GPU along with 2GB of RAM. Taking a look at the back and you’ll spot an 8-megapixel camera while there is still a camera located on the front face. Consumers will also be met with Android 4.4 right out of the box.
Now as mentioned this is a rugged smartphone so one of the key elements to the device is being able to take a beating without cracking under pressure. This device is IP67 certified in which the device can operate for a half an hour under three feet of water. Additionally the CAT S50 holds a military 810G certification so your device is protected from elements such as salt, dust, rain, solar radiation, thermal shock, humidity, and vibration. Though it’s currently unknown just how much the CAT S50 will run you, the device will be making its way to Verizon starting this November.
