The September 29th event from Google is shaping up to be a pretty big one. We were expecting the search giant to release the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P. We’ve been hearing rumors of the Chromecast 2nd generation as well as a Chromecast Audio coming tomorrow, and Android Police has a new report out backing up previous reports on these two products from Google. Android Police quotes the Chromecast as coming with a $35 price tag, available beginning tomorrow and available in three colors, blue, yellow and red. Some of the new features in the new Chromecast include 4K streaming, 5GHz WiFi, and a few other upgrades to the internals. It’s also coming with a new Chromecast app which has some interesting features including seeing what’s currently on. As well as recommended apps and “Fast Play”.
Then there’s the Chromecast Audio. It’s essentially a WiFi adapter for any and every speaker, whether it be a Bluetooth speaker or not. Pre-orders for the Chromecast Audio are slated to start tomorrow – likely shortly after the even concludes – and will be priced at $35 as well. It’ll be shipping in October. The Chromecast Audio will also have support for Spotify, Google Play Music, and likely a few other music services.
We’re also expecting a revamped Android TV-based Nexus Player tomorrow. However we haven’t seen a ton of leaks or rumors about it just yet. However the Chromecast does seem to be a lock in for announcement tomorrow. The Chromecast will be available shortly after the announcement tomorrow for $35, with pre-orders for Chromecast Audio starting tomorrow and going for $35. It’ll be available in October. No specific date just yet, but expect that to be available soon. The update to the Chromecast app will likely be available tomorrow as well, after Google’s event concludes. Which should work with the current generation Chromecast as well. So far, no word on what stores you can pick up the Chromecast or Chromecast Audio from. But I’d expect it to be available at the Google Store, Amazon and Best Buy, possible a few other retailers as well.
