There are many currently active smartphone manufacturers in China, and Elephone is certainly one of the more interesting ones. This company was manufacturing low and mid-range Android smartphones exclusively for a long time, and were doing a really good job as well. Those smartphones were mostly made out of metal, and were really well-built. At some point Elephone decided to throw higher-end devices into the mix, and since then, they’ve produced the P7000, P8000, Vowney and P9000 handsets. All of these smartphones are made out of metal, and sports really compelling specificatoins, not to mention that they’re very affordable.
That being said, our source at the company shared details regarding yet another Elephone-branded smartphone which is due to launch soon, the Elephone M2. The source has provided images and partial specs of this smartphone, so let’s check it out, shall we. Judging by the available info, the Elephone M2 will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and will be made out of metal (unibody design). MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel this smartphone, a processor which is very popular with Chinese OEMs lately. The 13-megapixel camera (IMX214) will be located on the back of the Elephone M2, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. The fingerprint scanner will also be a part of this package, and it will be located below the display, the physical home button will double as a fingerprint scanner this time around. The device will be 7.35mm thick, and that’s pretty much all we know as far as specs go thus far. Judging by this info, this will be a mid-range smartphone and it will ship with either 2 or 3GB of RAM, we’ll see.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see this device in the flesh. The device will sport a phyiscal home button below the display which will be flanked by two capacitive keys. We still don’t know which version of Android will come pre-installed on this smartphone, but it’s highly likely Android 5.1 Lollipop will be included. Either way, we’ll report back when additional info surfaces, stay tuned.
