Earlier today, Google announced a new logo for them, the biggest subsidiary of Alphabet. As Google is always evolving, so has their logo, and now we have a san-serif logo here from Google. We’ve already seen the new logo on Google.com, obviously. But some of us didn’t really realize how many products, and apps we use everyday that has Google’s logo on it. That includes search, Google Now, and just about all the other apps on our smartphones. Google has already begun updating their logo in the Google search bar, as well as Google Now and on the mobile web.
However, the new logo isn’t all that’s new here. If you watch the video embedded below, you’ll notice that there are some new animations included in Google Now. Which look really slick and fit in perfectly with Google, to be honest. What used to be a pulsing microphone is now four floating dots in blue, green, red and yellow. The colors of Google, obviously.
This is only the beginning of the changes for all of Google’s products across the many platforms that we use them on. We’re seeing the new logo as well as the new font across their sweet of apps including Google+, Gmail, Translate and many others. So what prompted the change? Well it’s just part of the evolving nature that is Google, especially after Larry Page announced that he is now the CEO of Alphabet, leaving Sundar in charge of Google. Google has published the entire background on the change. Which you can read up on here.
The new logo looks kinda cool, actually. Things might be a bit slow to update, as you can imagine, there’s a lot of stuff to update here. While it may not take as long as some of the rollouts of app updates from Google, it can still take a bit. It’s always nice t see a new look from a company whose logo you see hundreds of thousands of times a day. If you haven’t seen the video introducing the new logo, you should do so – also embedded below – it’s really nice actually.
