Virtual reality is the future according to many people, and has become a focus of many tech companies out there. Oculus has released their Oculus Rift VR headset a while back, and Samsung has followed by introducing their Gear VR headset last year, which was built with Oculus’ help. Another company which joined this ‘race’ is HTC, when the company announced their HTC Vive virtual reality headset, which we’re here to talk more about.
We’ve already had the chance to try out HTC Vive back in July, when one of our editors, John Anon, paid a visit to HTC in San Diego. He described the experience as ‘scarily realistic’, and he also added that it’s not perfect, of course. Well, took the HTC Vive for another spin during IFA in Berlin, and the reaction is more or less the same. HTC Vive offers a really realistic virtual reality experience. How does this thing work? Well, more or less like other VR headsets do. You put it on, and basically enter a programmed environment where you can walk around and do stuff. The HTC Vive also comes with two controllers which you have in your hands, with the help of which you interact with all sorts of programmed objects.
The HTC Vive won’t be commercially available until Q1 2016 considering the company has delayed its launch recently, but judging by the reactions of the team member and various people who had the chance to try it on, it’s worth the wait. These are simple programs that HTC let people try out, can you only imagine what will happen when proper games find their way into the mix? Well, we’ll see.
