Phone cases are generally thought of as a means of stylizing and protecting our smartphones, but with the new InkCase shown of today at IFA there’s more to it than that. The InkCase actually serves a functional purpose of providing you with a secondary display to your smartphone that’s integrated into the back of the case and using e-ink technology. It looks similar to the set up on the YotaPhone and YotaPhone 2 but integrated into a case for your device instead if it being built into the device itself as an actual second screen.
The case uses Bluetooth low energy so it doesn’t consume much power when in use, allowing it to be used all day without issue whether it be for reading or displaying images. By connecting your device to the InkCase via Bluetooth you can share any screen on your phone’s actual display through the display on the back of the case. It can also be used as a stand-alone ebook reader. The case comes in white and black and will support a number of different Android phones.
