HTC is holding an event in Japan today, and according to a number of sources, the company might announce their long-rumored HTC A9 (Aero) handset. This device has leaked several times thus far, and it was initially rumored to be a premium offering by HTC, but then some rumors started popping up saying that this is just a mid-range device, and that HTC will announce their ‘Hero’ device later this year. Well, according to a newly-leaked spec sheet on AnTuTu, the mid-range part might actually be quite accurate, read on.
If you take a look a the first image down below, you’ll notice that AnTuTu listing says that the device will be called ‘One A9’ in the end. The HTC One A9 will feature a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 620 SoC along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera will be located on the back of the One A9, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. Now, interestingly enough, this listing says that the device will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, which seems a bit odd if the handset is supposed to be announced today. That would basically mean that HTC plans to announce a device based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow before Google announces new Nexus device later today. It is possible that this device might be announced at a later date, we’ll have to wait and see.
Speaking of HTC One A9, this benchmark listing is not the only piece of info that surfaced today. If you take a look at the gallery down below you’ll also notice a couple of alleged One A9 images which go hand-in-hand with previous leaks. Its rear-facing camera is centered in the upper portion of the phone’s back, and is flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash. Both the power and volume rocker buttons are placed on the phone’s right-hand side, and the physical home button is located below the display. The bezels don’t exactly seem that thin on this device, especially the ones up top. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see if HTC plans to announce this phone today or not, but if this benchmark listing is accurate, this is a well-specced mid-high end smartphone.
