For a long time now, Philips has been known for setting themselves apart from the rest of the TV pack with their Ambilight technology. If you’re not familiar with Ambilight, it’s basically a light that comes from the back of the set itself, in all different hues, to extend the feel of whatever it is you’re watching. It’s a great way of filling a room, and as the colors change with whatever’s on your set, it helps the bright light of a TV feel not so harsh on your eyes. This year, during IFA 2015, Philips unveiled new Ambilight TVs, including a new technology, all powered by Android TV.
Roaming the halls of Berlin, we were able to spend some quality time with the new TVs from Philips and we were mighty impressed. Both the 8601 and 9600 are featured below, both of them 4K TVs with Android TV onboard. You can find out more about these two sets from Philips here. Both of these TVs look good thanks to an understated design and slim, slim bezels around the displays themselves. Where these really shine however is in the Ambilight technology, which blasts light from the back of the set to make the display feel larger. The Ambilux TV, with Philip’s new Ambilight projection technology was there as well, and you can make it out from the others on display in the gallery below thanks to the bright and punchy colors.
