When Google introduced Inbox by Gmail last year, it quickly became known as an email app to help people get things done. Thanks to its features like prioritizing and separating content into specific categories and groups, the ability to set reminders from within the app and more. Inbox has been getting better and better with each update and one of the more recent ones finally introduced Shortcuts for the compose new mail and set reminders that could be added to the homescreen. Now it’s been discovered that an upcoming update, looks to be working towards adding support for Android Wear devices as well as introducing some other new features.
The latest version should bring users up to version 1.12, and you can download the apk here if you’re an existing Inbox user and want the latest version installed. This particular update which users can install now is pretty bare as none of the new functions seem to be available yet, but a future update is where users should begin to get excited. Strings discovered in the teardown seem to reveal that Android Wear support is on the way, meaning that Inbox users who also enjoy Android Wear won’t have to go back to using Gmail when wanting to use email from their wrist. Right now there are no details on what features and functions will be baked in when Android Wear support arrives, but the capability does appear to be coming.
Also with the upcoming version Inbox, it appears the team will be adding in new Smart Mail Contact tags which could relate to settings reminders involving your mail contacts, or they could have to do with the options of how a user can send mail to a contact but we’re not entirely sure at this point. It seems Inbox will also be getting some new “snooze options” in the future. New strings found within the latest apk are labeled as later this week, later this month, later today, next month, next weekend, this week, and this weekend, so when the update rolls through users should be seeing a list of new options on how long they can snooze a reminder for stuff they set.
