On Tuesday at a press conference held in San Francisco, California, Google launched not one but two new Nexus devices, making it the very first time the company is offering two smartphones as part of its Nexus lineup. Along with the two handsets, the company also announced its second generation Chromecast media streamer, and a whole new Chromecast Audio device. The company also announced an intriguing Pixel C tablet that attaches a physical keyboard with the help of magnets. As for the pricing of the newly-launched smartphones, Google announced that the Nexus 5X pricing will start at $379 in the US for the 16 GB version, while the larger Nexus 6P will cost $499 in the US for the 32 GB version, while the 64 GB and the 128 GB versions will be priced at $549 and $649 respectively.
While Google did not elaborate on the pricing of either device outside the US, Huawei has now revealed the pricing of Google’s latest flagship smartphone in some of the key international markets. While the device will be available at £449 onwards in the UK (for the 16 GB version), it will go up to as much as £579 for the 128 GB version, with the 64 GB version costing £499. In Japan, the smartphone come will a price-tag of 74,800 Yen for the 16 GB version, while pricing will start at $699 in Canada and €649 in Germany and France for the most affordable variant.
Coming to the hardware specs of the two new Nexus handsets, the smaller of the two, the Nexus 5X, is made by South Korean consumer electronics company LG, and comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 chip, and comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of internal storage, depending on the version. The handset comes with a 12.3-megapixel primary camera with a dual-LED, dual tone flash and Laser Detect Autofocus. The smartphone comes with a 2,700 mAh battery and sports a fingerprint reader on the back, called the Nexus Imprint. The smartphone also happens to be the first device (along with the Nexus 6P, of course) to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Talking about the Nexus 6P, the device is made by Chinese telecom equipment and electronics company, Huawei, and sports a 5.7-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) display. The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoC, and comes with 3GB of RAM. The device comes in three different storage configurations, with a 32 GB version, a 64 GB version and a top-of-the-line variant with 128 GB internal storage. The device also sports the aforementioned Nexus Imprint fingerprint reader, and features a 13-megapixel primary camera with a dual-LED, dual tone flash. The Nexus 6P comes with a 3,450 mAh battery, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
