LG Will Release G Pad II 10.1 In U.S. By End Of September

With the end of the year fast approaching, there are only a few remaining major releases of Android devices expected. Korean electronics giant LG is certainly in the mix considering they have reportedly been tapped to manufacture one of Google’s upcoming flagship smartphones, the Nexus 5x, and today it has been revealed that they will be unveiling a new tablet for the U.S. market before the end of this month. This tablet is known as the G Pad II 10.1 and it was originally unveiled in August, and showcased during IFA in Berlin earlier this month.

In terms of specifications, the G Pad II 10.1 actually looks fairly impressive. The 10.1 inch tablet will have a display resolution of 1920 x 1200 and should be fairly speedy as it will be powered by the Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. In terms of cameras, the G Pad II 10.1 will feature a 5 megapixel rear facing camera and a fairly standard 2 megapixel shooter for all your selfie and video-conferencing needs. It will feature 32GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card slot.  Battery life shouldn’t be a problem when it comes to LG’s newest tablet as it features a generously sized 7400 mAh battery. In regards to software, the G Pad II 10.1 will be running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box but with several of LG’s software modifications on top. LG isn’t exactly known for having the greatest of Android skins but when it comes to a tablet some of these software additions, like a split-screen viewer for multi-tasking, could prove to be quite useful.

While the LG Pad II 10.1 looks like a decent option for anyone looking for an Android tablet, it faces stiff competition from Samsung’s recently released Galaxy Tab S2, even though they’re not exactly in the exact same spec, or price range. The Android tablet space is arguably more competitive than ever so device manufacturers really need to put forth a lot of effort if they want their products to make an impact, and only time will tell if LG has managed to achieve this with the G Pad II 10.1. LG has yet to specify the exact release date for the G Pad II 10.1, nor they have given any details on pricing but one has to assume this information will be released quite soon.
