For the last month or so leaks for the next version of the Moto 360 have been floating around the web, and more recently it was suggested that Motorola and Lenovo may have been gearing up to announce the device at IFA this week. Day one is already underway and sure enough at Lenovo’s press conference they have officially announced the new Android Wear smartwatch. The Moto 360 2nd Gen will come in three different models as previously expected thanks to the leaks, and will consist of a smaller 42mm body, and larger 46mm regular model, as well as the recently leaked and rumored sport model which presents a more sport and active friendly design aimed at those who want something as such for exercise or simply just to wear from day to day.
Motorola states that they have “refined the classic and timeless design” of the original while also managing to create multiple design collections that can cater to pretty much anyone. With the small, large, and sport models being available this year Motorola is aiming their new device at both men and women as well as sport enthusiasts, and this approach is helped by having multiple customization options available for the bands as well as the watch case for all models. Consumers will do all of these customizations via the Moto Maker website and pre-orders are already up for the non-sport model (you can pre-register for updates on availability of the sport model from the Motorola site) of the watch so you can begin customizing immediately. Prices will start at $299 for the 42mm body and cost an extra $50 for the 46mm. There are various other customization options available though which could increase the price to as much as $449.
The design is exactly like what we’ve seen from all of the leaks, with the lugs now attached to the outside of the watch face where the band attaches, and a the crown button having been moved slightly up the case at more of an angle instead of directly to the right in the middle. Ship dates begin this month but dates can seemingly vary depending on the combination of custom design options you throw in.
