If you are unfamiliar with Neato, they are a robotics company based in California that manufacture some neat smart vacuum cleaners. Their latest model, the Botvac Connected, was unveiled a few weeks ago during IFA 2015, offering some nice features to make your housecleaning easier. The biggest innovation here is a Wi-Fi connectivity that allows the robot to be controlled through an Android app and it can be activated from anywhere over the internet. As the company says, imagine you are at work and you have an unexpected visit for right when you get back home – you just have to grab your phone (Android or iOS-powered), activate the BotVac and it will clean the floor.
The device packs some serious technology in order to work. It is capable of scanning the room with laser sensors to create a map of the area, also detecting objects in real time in order to plan an efficient routine for each cleaning, even if in the dark . The smart mapping functionality allows it to move from room to room and, when running out of power, go back to its charging base. When powered up again, it can even go back to the point where it left and resume the cleaning. From the mobile app, you can order an instant or scheduled full house or to a specific spot cleaning. You also get notifications in real time on the status of the process on your phone. It has two cleaning modes. Eco Mode provides a quieter cleaning that can last for up to 120 minutes. The Turbo Mode can last for 90 minutes with a boosted suction.
The company says the device has a new filter that sucks up twice the amount of small particles of up to 0.3 microns when compared to the competition. The Neato Botvac Connected will start selling in the coming months with a $699 price tag. The company didn’t specify where it will be sold, but they operate in the U.S. and Canada, major countries in the Asia Pacific region, European countries like the UK, Germany and France and more. In the U.S., you will be able to find it in Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target and other retailers.
