Official: Moto 360 (2015) Will Launch On September 8th

Motorola has unveiled three really compellling handsets back in July, the Moto G (2015), Moto X Play and Moto X Style. These three devices actually cover entry-level, mid-range and high-end categories for Motorola, and are really compelling offerings by the company. We’ve already talked at length about all three of these devices, and are here to talk about something else Motorola-related, their upcoming smartwatch(es). We’ve seen plenty of Moto 360 leaks, and yesterday even the Moto 360 Sport surfaced. It seems like Motorola will, not only release multiple sizes of their smartwatch, but also release two variants of the watch as well.

That being said, Motorola’s parent company, Lenovo, has just confirmed via their official Weibo account (Chinese social network) that the Moto 360 will launch on September 8th in Shanghai. This basically means that the company will wait until IFA is over, and then showcase their new smartwatch offerings, unless they plan to do two separate launches (international and China). Lenovo has confirmed the release date via an image you can check out above this article. As you can see, the company has also posted a partial image of the Moto 360 smartwatch, which basically confirms all the leaks we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks. The power / lock button will be located in the upper right corner of the smartwatch, and the design is significantly different compared to the 1st-gen Moto 360.

Now, the company didn’t confirm that the Moto 360 Sport will arrive on this event, and a recent leak actually suggested that the Moto 360 Sport might launch later this year (November), so don’t expect it to get announced on September 8th. Most people will be interested in the regular Moto 360 anyhow, well, most probably. The Moto 360 (2nd-gen) will be made out of metal, as you can clearly see in the image (and all the leaked material thus far), and the ‘flat tire’ might be present here once again (according to previous leaks) even though this teaser doesn’t exactly show it. That’s more or less it. It seems like Motorola plans to launch the regular Moto 360 variant on September 8th, while the ‘Sport’ variant will arrive in November. Either way, stay tuned for more info, we’ll report back soon.
