Rumor: Xperia Z5 Ultra To Arrive In March, SD820 In Tow

Sony has introduced three new flagship devices at IFA in Berlin a couple of days ago, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact. The Xperia Z5 Ultra is definitely the highest-end one out of the bunch, this handset sports 4GB of RAM and is the first smartphone to feature a 4K display. That’s not all though, yesterday’s leak suggested that the company plans to release the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium soon as well, though that handset will probably be available in Japan only. That being said, another rumor surfaced regarding Sony’s ‘Ultra’ series of devices, read on.

According to a new rumor coming from China, courtesy of @Leaksfly, Sony is preparing to launch the Xperia Z5 Ultra in March next year. According to an additional leak that surfaced lately as well, the device might be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit SoC. Now, if you’re not familiar with Sony’s ‘Ultra’ line of devices, a huge phablet line. The Xperia Z Ultra device launched back in June 2013 and it has sported a 6.4-inch display, while we’re still waiting for its successor. The Xperia Z4 Ultra was rumored to arrive in Q3 this year, and that might still happen, but with this new leak stating that the Z5 Ultra will arrive in March, we’re wondering if Sony intends to release the Z4 Ultra as well this year.

One thing is for sure, the Xperia Z5 Ultra, if it launches, will also be huge. You can expect it to sport a screen bigger than 6-inches, and top of the line specifications. This handset might also ship with a 4K display as the Xperia Z5 Premium, but we’re only guessing, no info has leaked regarding that. The device will also quite probably feature 4GB of RAM, and the same 23-megapixel camera sensor you’ll find in the newly-released Xperia Z5 devices. The Xperia Z5 Ultra will, of course, offer 4G LTE connectivity, and sport a premium build. That’s more or less it, we’ll let you know if any additional info surfaces in the coming weeks, stay tuned.
