Samsung Already Testing Galaxy S7; More Details Emerge

Samsung have delivered some seriously good devices this year in the form of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5, with their new dual-edged displays taking things even further as well, Samsung seem to have a great product line for 2015. Even so, profits have not returned to 2013 levels, and it appears as though the downward trend from last year seems to be continuing. The South Korean giant is by no means “in trouble” but, it looks as though competing with the likes of Motorola, LG and newcomers from China is chipping away at their armor. As such, the company is looking ahead to design, perfect and launch devices in quicker timeframes.

Rumors of next year’s Galaxy S7 might seem a little premature, but SamMobile apparently have some more details to share with the world where this new, unreleased smartphone is concerned. According to them, the new device is currently codenamed “Lucky”, and that it’s being tested with an Exynos 8890 at the moment, however some variants may ship with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 820, which is pegged as a return to form for the company. The company is also apparently experimenting with a new 20-megapixel ISOCELL camera of Samsung’s own creation, although judging by the Galaxy S6’s camera performance, Samsung have their work cut out for them.

A clock speed of 2.3 Ghz or so is currently being rumored, but storage speeds is where Samsung is looking to drastically improve things. UFS 2.0 storage is being tested right now, again according to rumors, but there are whispers that Samsung are coming close to getting this technology to work with microSD cards. The UFS 2.0 controllers are not compatible with your everyday microSD cards, but Samsung is working on this. While this is not exactly an indication that removable storage will return to Samsung’s flagship device, it is at least, a sign of hope. As of right now, the Galaxy S7 is clearly in its prototyping stage, but many of the goals Samsung wish to achieve with the final device should be realised and the company is probably working on finalizing parts of the design and making sure they have the right boxes ticked before a launch next Spring.
