Over the summer, Samsung announced the new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ in August, and while the larger Galaxy S6 Edge feels just like a bigger phone, the Galaxy Note 5 is a big upgrade. The Galaxy Note 4 was arguably just a small, iterative upgrade over the Galaxy Note 3, which means Note fans have been used to the faux-leather design for a couple of years. The Galaxy Note 5 upgrades all of this with the same sort of design seen in the Galaxy S6 line of devices and the S-Pen grows a few more tricks as well. The device has now been launched in India, and unsurprisingly, it’s not going to be cheap.
As NDTV are reporting, the Galaxy Note 5 will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants for Rs. 53,900 and Rs. 59,900, respectively. That means that, in US dollar terms, the Galaxy Note 5 will start at $805 or so. That ain’t cheap. Of course, as we discovered in our review, the Galaxy Note 5 is absolutely packed full of features and the best hardware on the market. Plus, this starting price includes twice the amount of storage as other flagships seem to start with. That doesn’t sound great to those that will miss the expandable storage and removable battery, but at least there’s a decent amount of storage there to start with.
In India, Samsung is right at the top of the ladder, battling it out with Micromax for the top spot, but with devices like the Galaxy Note 5 costing so much, it’s understandable why YU are making inroads. After all, the YU line of devices do the majority of what users want them to do and they cost just a fraction of what something like this costs. Of course, those with money to spare will always want the absolute best, and as the Galaxy Note 5 is a big redesign for the Note line, we’re sure there are more people out there looking to purchase the latest and greatest from Samsung. Motorola have the Moto X Play launching in India soon as well, so it looks as though Samsung will have their work cut out for them this Fall in India.
