Sony Creates Web Portal For Xperia Themes

One of the most loved features of Sony’s Xperia lineup of devices has been the theme engine they have built-in to their UI, and up until more recently not many OEMs were implementing this type of a feature. The only way you could install any themes was by using third party home launcher applications that allowed the functionality, or by installing themes through a ROM-based theme engine if you had a rooted device and had flashed a particular ROM. With themes being a much-loved feature of their handset offerings, it seems only proper that Sony has a dedicated web page for Sony device users to browse those themes that are available.

Today, Sony has done just that and given users a web portal for focusing on all of the best themes available for Sony’s devices, located at themes.sonymobile.com. Many of the themes listed here, or more likely all of the themes displayed can be found within the Play Store as well, but through the web portal users can more easily find the best themes available that can be applied as they’re highlighted and chosen by Sony. Not just a few either as there seems to be a rather large collection to sift through, and clicking on any one theme simply takes you to the Google Play web store so installation should be a breeze if you settle on something you like.

The new theme portal doesn’t just serve to benefit the users of Sony phones which can install these themes, but also developers who design Xperia Themes as they now have a new outlet to showcase their creations and hard work. The Play Store is a great place to show off themes but any extra coverage is never a bad thing, and Sony has given developers not only an easy set of tools to create themes, but now with the new theme portal being live they have an easy set of steps to get them listed in the new theme portal too. Sony has created a video to explain the theme portal and has listed out the requirements and FAQ’s for how to get themes listed there.
