HTC has not been having the most successful times recently, despite having flagship devices with great designs and build quality, some aspects like the underperforming cameras they include might have affected their sales. Ever since the One M9 was announced, people started wondering what the company would do to impress consumers as that device didn’t meet everyone’s expectations. Some rumors started surfacing about a second flagship that would be released on the second half of the year, it became known as Hima Aero and more recently, the name has changed to HTC A9, referring to the same device.
Some leaked pictures of an unknown device suggest that the design of the HTC A9 would be inspired by the iPhone 6, with a flat metallic back and the front covered with glass. Previous rumors have suggested that it would be powered by the MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor and 4 GB of RAM, making it extremely powerful. The camera is also believed to be very powerful and yesterday, we got to know that the new smartphone would run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Sense 7 out of the box. If that turned out to be true, the phone would not be launched anytime soon, as the official Marshmallow build hasn’t even been released by Google and then HTC would have to customize it.
Now, the famous leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has shared some information about this smartphone, contradicting some of the previous rumors while some other aspects sound quite possible. The tweet mentions that the screen will measure 5 inches with Full HD resolution and it will use AMOLED technology. This could be possible as the leaked image shows a device that doesn’t seem much bigger than the iPhone and its 4.7-inch screen. Contradicting previous reports, it will apparently use the newly announced Snapdragon 617 processor with 2 GB of RAM. A 13-megapixel BSI sensor with OIS has been mentioned for the main camera and a 4-megapixel one with UltraPixel technology would be located on the front. According to the leak, the metallic body of the phone will be rather slim at around 7 mm and it will be available in 6 different colors. Other specs include 16 GB of storage with a Micro SD expansion slot, a fingerprint scanner, and a 2,150 mAh battery. Finally, it is supposed to be released on November, which sounds quite possible for a phone running Marshmallow. Overall, this sounds like a mid-range device, but the Snapdragon 617 includes some high-end specs, so it might still offer a good experience.
