Verizon Releases Beta Version Of Go90 Mobile Video App

Verizon has released the beta version of the Go90 app earlier this month. It is a video streaming service similar to Youtube, but it is owned by the company. Verizon has collaborated with many content partners such as Comedy Central, ESPN, TLC, Defy, Machinima, and Adult Swim. Due to a newly inked deal with HBO, Verizon has the rights to resell HBO NOW to broadband and mobile consumers. The app is free, but it is supported by advertisements. The company has still yet to officially launch the app. As of now, the company is still forging partnerships with other content partners.

G090 is not just a streaming service where you just see videos, it has social elements within the app to make the streaming experience more interesting. You are required to sign up in order to use this app. You can make a personal profile tailored to what type of content you want to stream. There are also social media buttons where you tap to share your favorite videos via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram if you want to share them with others. When you share your videos, friends or followers will be directed to a website that hosts the video. The site that they are watching the video on will also prompt them to download the app so they can experience things for themselves firsthand. There are features where you can follow your friends to see what videos they have viewed, follow your favorite celebrities profiles and follow your favorite food or prank channels. There is another feature in the app called “crews,” which allows you to join special interest groups within the app (e.g. think John Cena’s fan club or Miley Cyrus’s).

The app is aimed at the age group of 18-34, because according to Verizon they have observed that 70 percent of the people in those age groups watch videos on mobile devices. The app is available to anybody who wants to download it though, not just its customers, and if you wish to check it out you can download the Go90 app here. Verizon has been busy sending invites to try the app to its subscribers and those who are subscribers of other carriers. since the 8th of September. The company expects the beta version to reach at least a few million users before they officially launch the video service.
