Wacom introduced the new Bamboo Spark – a “smart folio” that allows users to take handwritten notes to “capture, shape and share ideas.” Bamboo Spark helps you save your ideas and once written on its note pad, they will never be lost. Once you have your idea written or sketched, you simply push a button and the Bamboo Spark synchronizes with the Wacom Cloud and stores it for later manipulation. With Bamboo Spark you truly are “Making Ideas” by first jotting something down or scribbling out a quick sketch, and then saving it on your cloud to fine tune it another day. Do this as often as you need until you truly do make your idea come to life.

Using the Wacom Bamboo Spark is an easy process and is incredibly user friendly. All you need to do is to download the Bamboo Spark app on your Android device with Bluetooth Smart technology. Next, pair the device with the app and start creating your ideas – every stroke is saved within the app every time you press the button on the center of the device. You can save up to 100 pages in the off-line mode while you continue to work on your ideas or export them to Bamboo Paper, Evernote or Dropbox. Your Wacom Cloud account is free and stores your projects to be accessed across devices.
Bamboo Sparks combines the simplicity of a traditional ink pen with Wacom’s core digital pen technology to give you a smartpen and a smart folio. The smart folio’s EMR (Electro-Magnetic Resonance) board communicates with the Bamboo Spark pen – the same way Wacom’s professional products work with near-perfect digital input. You can use Bamboo Spark’s traditional ink pen to write or sketch on most standard A5 paper.
Bamboo Spark ties in with the Wacom’s distinctive ecosystem and the app is responsible for the digital capture and transfer of written notes or sketches directly to any paired smartphone or tablet, and within the app itself, light editing can be performed. If you need more in depth editing, then use Bamboo Paper, which is Wacom’s premier note taking application that uses WILL (Wacom Ink Layer Language) – soon to be the industry standard. Gay says, “In 2016, Wacom will continue to build advanced software features into Bamboo Spark such as handwriting recognition and other leading-edge applications. This is a product that will keep up with user demands and change with the evolving needs of the customer.”
The Bamboo Spark folio will give you approximately 8 hours of continuous use and you can charge it via its USB port. The Bamboo Spark pen uses ink that is specifically designed to work in conjunction with Wacom’s EMR technology and you can purchase ink refills on the Wacom e-store, and each should last for up to three months of use. The Bamboo Spark comes in three models all priced at $159.95 (USD), €159.90 (EUR) with VAT and £119.99 (GBP) with VAT. Bamboo Spark and its accessories are expected to ship in October from the Wacom eStore, Amazon and other electronic retailers.
