Connected products are finding their way into many different areas of the home ranging from smart thermostats to connected lighting systems. Withings, a company that makes connected products aimed at better health, sleep, and living has made its devices fully compatible with Android as of today, eliminating the iOS only support that the range of products had prior. This makes it possible for Android users to access any of Withings connected products and monitor everything from their mobile device using Withings collection of apps. In addition to the Android support, Withings is also introducing a new integration with Spotify via their Aura Sleep System.
With Spotify integration, the Aura (which is a connected alarm clock) will allow people to access the complete catalogue of songs in Spotify’s library which reaches some 30 million different tracks from various artists and bands. With this new functionality in place people will be able to use the Aura just as before, but can now fall asleep and wake up to the their favorite songs. This means users can set playlists or songs to fall asleep and wake up to, and depending on how well those playlists and songs work, Withings is developing a new feature which allows the Aura to make recommendations based on the effectiveness of the music selected. To have access to Spotify’s full library through the Aura uses will of course, need to have a Spotify premium account.
The new recommendations feature should be available by the end of the year according to Withings, and utilizes aggregated data from Withings systems across the globe plus the music preferences of users to make these recommendations which can best help people wake up and fall asleep. Withings is calling this a “tailor-made wake-up experience” thanks to their creation of a dedicated Spotify account. Most of Withings products can be found on Amazon and on their own website including baby monitors, activity trackers, the Activite smartwatches, smart scales and more.
