Xiaomi Mi 5 Specs Leak, Snapdragon 820 Mentioned

Xiaomi has been releasing devices quite frequently this year. This China-based smartphone OEM has released quite a few devices this year, but they’ve also showcased a number of smart gadgets and what not. The company has recently announced their Mi 4c smartphone which has been surfacing all over the internet for quite some time now. The Mi 4c is a really capable device and it’s also very affordable at the same time, something we’re used to seeing from Xiaomi. That being said, we’re still waiting for the company to showcase their new flagship, the Mi 5, a phone which has also been leaked a number of times before.

A new leak surfaced in China lately, sharing alleged specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5. According to this leak, the Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 4GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, according to this leak, and that’s somewhat interesting. The Snapdragon 820 SoC won’t be available until Q1 2016, and if Mi 5 really is going to be fueled by this SoC, then we won’t see it launched for a while. Anyhow, the 16-megapixel rear-facing camera has also been mentioned in this leak, and an 8-megapixel snapper will reportedly going to be located up front. Andriod 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on the Mi 5 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 Android-powered OS which was announced earliier this month.

There you have it, these are supposed to be the specs of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5, but the question remains how legit this leak is. The Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched back in July 2014, and it’s hard to believe Xiaomi will wait until 2016 in order to unveil its successor. On the other hand, the Mi 4c could be Xiaomi’s wait of filling that gap and make us wait for a couple more months for the Mi 5. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that a well-known Chinese analyst said the other day that the Mi 5 will arrive before the end of this year, so it remains to be seen which information is accurate. Stay tuned for more details.
