Xiaomi has announced a number of smartphones this year, along with a number of various smart gadgets. The company was expected to announce their 2nd-gen Mi Pad by now though, but that hasn’t happened. The original Mi Pad was launched back in March 2014, and it’s time for the company to release its successor. We’ve already seen some leaked images of the device, and some rumors regarding the operating system this tablet will run. Previous rumors said that the device might sport dual boot, and that it will be powered by one of Intel’s processors. Well, a new rumors surfaced in China recently, read on.
According to the newly surfaced rumor, the Mi Pad 2 will ship in two variants, but won’t sport dual boot. The rumor says that the Mi Pad 2 will arrive in both Android and Windows 10 versions considering the Windows 10 variant is currently being tested by the company. This rumor also says that Mi Pad 2 will be powered by one of Intel’s chips, both variants actually. What about its specs? Well, the original Mi Pad sported a 9.7-inch display, and its successor will either keep that display size, or will ship with a bigger panel, our guess is the latter variant. You can also expect this tablet to sport 4GB of RAM, and as it’s the case with more or less every Xiaomi-branded device, you can expect it to be priced aggressively.
This rumor actually sounds far more feasible that the previous one that surfaced. It is still possible that Xiaomi is planning to release a tablet with both Android and Windows pre-installed on it, but that’s not that likely. It is far more likely that Xiaomi plans to release two separate versions of Mi Pad 2, and tackle both Android and Windows users that way. We’re only guessing here, of course, and all the provided info here hasn’t been confirmed yet. We’re hoping Xiaomi will announce their 2nd-gen tablet soon, even though the company still hasn’t teased its arrival or anything of the sort. It took them a while to announce the Redmi Note 2, so… perhaps the company is taking their time. The 2nd-gen Mi Pad is almost certainly going to launch before the end of the year though, so stay tuned.
