This summer, ZTE began the rollout of a brand new smartphone brand, in Axon. After launching variants in the US and China, now the company is turning their attention to Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific with the Axon Elite. The purpose of the Axon brand is to bring high-end and competitively priced smartphones to markets around the world. The Axon Pro that’s available here in the US is high-end with the highest specs available and selling for just $450 unlocked. And those in Europe are getting the same thing.
The new Axon Elite will be on sale in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom beginning on September 24th priced at 419 Euros. ZTE is partnering with MediaMarkt to sell the Axon Elite in Germany beginning at the end of September. And they will continue to roll it out to Spain, France, Turkey, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Russia and Philippines.
Much like the Axon Phone in China, the Axon Elite can be unlocked using three different biometric authentication methods. This includes using the fingerprint scanner, but also using an Eye Scan and through voice control. As far as the specs go, the Axon Elite sports a 5.5-inch 1080p TFT Display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. ZTE has also added in a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB of storage. It’s powered by a 3000mAh battery which does include Quick Charge, however no Qi Wireless charging unfortunately. We’re looking at a 13MP camera on the back with a 8MP front-facing shooter for taking selfies. We also have a HiFi Audio chipset in the AKM4961. Other connectivity includes GPS, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.0.
The ZTE Axon Elite will be available later this month, and it appears to be really competitive. Specs are a bit lower than what we got here in the US, but it still appears to really be competitive with what the competitors are offering over in Europe right now. The HiFi Audio experience on the Axon Elite is pretty amazing, and it’s exciting to see more and more users experience ZTE’s HiFi Audio they’ve built with Dolby and JBL.
