ZUK has managed to get a lot of attention from tech news media in the last couple of months. This company was founded back in May this year, which makes it an extremely young smartphone OEM. ZUK is actually backed by Lenovo, and they’ve already released their first smartphone, the ZUK Z1 which is already available both in China and Europe. Interesting enough, the Chinese variant of the device ships with ZUK’s ZUI user interface, while the international variant comes with Cyanogen OS 12.1 pre-installed.
That being said, ZUK has already said that their next flagship smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC, which means it won’t arrive before Q1 2016. We’ve already seen some ZUK Z2 rumors, and today we have some leaked renders to share with you. If you take a look at the two photos in the gallery down below, you’ll get to see the alleged ZUK Z2 in the flesh. The smartphone will reportedly sport a rotating camera up top, we’ve actually seen something very similar a couple of days ago when futuristic Letv renders surfaced. A number of OEMs have released smartphones with rotating cameras, but this is a rather interesting approach to it actually. Oppo N3’s approach is fairly different than what we can see here considering the whole upper part of this phone rotates horizontally, which is not the case on the Oppo N3, and N1 for that matter.
We still don’t have any info when it comes to ZUK Z2’s specifications, all we know is that the phone is expected to launch in January, and the company has confirmed that fact. The device will almost certainly going to ship with Cyanogen OS installed on top of Google’s operating system, and you can also expect this device to be made out of metal, at least partially. Considering the fact that ZUK Z1 sported 3GB of RAM and packed in a Snapdragon 801 SoC, it is to be expected that 4GB of RAM accompany the Snapdragon 820 which will be available on the inside of this device. An improved camera sensor will quite probably be available here as well, and you can expect this device to ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop or 6.0 Marshmallow.
