We’ve seen quite a few smartwatches released in 2015, and a huge portion of those watches is powered by Google’s Android Wear operating system. Huawei and Motorola have released their Huawei Watch and Moto 360 (2nd-gen) smartwatches last month during IFA in Berlin, and it was just a matter of time before we see Android Wear-powered smartwatches from less known Chinese smartphone OEMs. We’ve already talked about two such watches, the ELE Watch from Elephone, and the Xwatch from Bluboo. Well, we have some new info when it comes to Elephone’s offering, read on.
Interesting enough, the ELE Watch listing has popped up on GearBest prior to the official announcement. This is an ‘arrival notice’, as GearBest calls it, and the listing basically reveals all of the ELE Watch specs, while we also get to see the black variant of the watch, something we haven’t seen thus far. We’ve already seen most of this specs in an earlier leak, but the most important spec we didn’t have thus far is the SoC info. The ELE Watch will apparently going to be fueled by MediaTek’s MT2601 processor, which was to be expected actually. The watch will also ship with a 400mAh battery, and will feature a 1.5-inch 320 x 320 display up front. The watch will come with IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, and will be available in Black and Silver color options. As you can see in the images down below, the watch will be made out of metal, and it sports a circular design. 512MB of RAM will also be included in this package, and same can be said for 4GB of internal storage.
We still don’t know how much will this smartwatch cost, but if the latest report is any indication, it will be priced at around $115, which is actually quite affordable. Elephone is expected to launch this watch within 1 month from now, though we still don’t have any info when exactly might that happen. The ELE Watch is a sleek looking smartwatch made out of metal which will come with Android Wear pre-installed. If the company manages to get that pricing right, this smartwatch might sell really well, especially considering it will be available worldwide through Chinese resellers such as GearBest. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, stay tuned for more details.
