The latest smartphone from Blackberry is currently one of the most talked about handsets around, due to this being the first BlackBerry device to come running on the Android operating system. In fact, BlackBerry finally opened up pre-orders for the BlackBerry Priv last Friday and as a result, we finally learned that the device will cost consumers in the U.S. a fairly high $699, while those in Canada will have to pay $899 CAD.
Well as you would expect with a BlackBerry device, this one does come sporting a number of the company’s own apps and these have had to be ported over to Android to run on the latest operating system. It now seems that those apps have been upped to the Play Store and are now available to download. Of course, that does mean that anyone can simply download them. These are BlackBerry designed apps which are intended for use on the BlackBerry Priv and only on the Priv. As such, you will need a Priv to download and install them. With the device not yet shipping, this essentially means that no one can really download them yet. However, the good news for future Priv owners is that it does look like BlackBerry will be in control with app updates and will be pushing updates out to their apps individually through the Play Store. A trend, many manufacturers have been adopting lately.
Either way and for those interested, the BlackBerry apps that have now become available are quite large in numbers. Some of those on offer include the Blackberry Keyboard app, BlackBerry Launcher App, BlackBerry Camera app, BlackBerry Services app and the Password Keeper app, among others.
