When Google announced Google Play Music Unlimited (All Access at the time), they allowed users to sign up at a locked in price of $7.99/month. That’s $2 off of the regular monthly fee of $9.99/month, and was a sort of reward for being an early adopter. Users that locked in that $7.99 price were able to use Music Key for the same price, and now with YouTube Red, many wondered if that would be the case once again, and it is. According to emails being sent out now to users that are paying that introductory price, you will be able to convert over to YouTube Red and keep that price locked in. That’s a great move by Google, to get even more users in YouTube Red. Users will also get the free trial as well, so you won’t be paying for YouTube Red right away, the email goes on to say that the first billing date will be December 1st, for those on the introductory price of Google Play Unlimited.
Earlier this week, Google announced YouTube Red as a way to get even more money out of YouTube. After all, YouTube is the future for Google, as well as mobile ads. Over a billion people visit YouTube each month, which is around 1 in 7 people in the world. That’s definitely not a small number. With YouTube Red, users will get an ad-free experience, but they will also get access to some premium content from a number of popular YouTube Creators, with the most popular one being PewDiePie and CollegeHumor. YouTube has paired them up with big time Hollywood producers and directors to create original content that will be behind the paywall. It’s not mandatory for you to subscribe to YouTube Red, however you won’t get access to the original content that’s part of YouTube Red.
Sometimes it pays to be an early adopter of something, and that shows up again here with Google Play Music. As early adopters get YouTube Red even cheaper. Now if you are paying $9.99 per month for Google Play Music Unlimited, you still get YouTube Red for the same price, nothing extra. That right there is a good deal as well.
