Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 and A8 devices are all a part of the company’s mid-range line of smartphones. The first three devices have been available in the market for quite some time now, and the latter one has been announced back in July this year. Samsung has released their Galaxy On5 and On7 devices in China quite recently, but it seems like the company plans to release second-gen ‘A’ devices soon as well. The second-gen Galaxy A3 and A5 devices have been listed on Zauba quite recently, and the Galaxy A3 has also popped up on GFXBench earlier today.
Well, the second-gen Galaxy A3 phone is not the only ‘A’ device which surfaced on GFXBench today, the Galaxy A7 has also been listed. To be more specific, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (SM-A710x) has surfaced, and it does bring a somewhat higher-end specs compared to its predecessor. The Galaxy A7 features a 5.5-inch 108p (1920 x 1080) display, which actually seems to be identical to its predecessor’s, but the phone will sport 3GB of RAM this time around, while the current-gen Galaxy A7 ships with ‘only’ 2GB. Both the camera and internal storage seem to be unchanged this time around, at least as far as megapixels go. The new Galaxy A7 will sports a 13-megapixel shooter on its back, and a 5-megapixel snapper up front. Interesting enough, the new Galaxy A7 will be fueled by the same SoC as last year’s model, the Snapdragon 615. It is possible that Samsung opts for the Snapdragon 617 which we’ve seen used by the HTC One A9 recently, but the listing says the Snapdragon 615 will be included. Furthermore, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has also been mentioned in GFXBench’s listing, and Adreno 405 GPU will be included for graphics no matter if they opt for Snapdragon 615 or 617.
That’s pretty much it. Both the 2nd-gen Galaxy A3 and A7 devices have been imported into India for testing and have popped up on GFXBench, which suggests they’ll launch soon. We still don’t know when exactly is Samsung planning to release the devices, but we’ll make sure to keep you in the loop, as always.
