As we expected, today’s the day that OnePlus finally, officially announce their latest smartphone. This time around, the OnePlus X is more of a budget-minded affair, even more so than the OnePlus 2, this is a device designed for those looking for a great piece of hardware without the associated price tag. The OnePlus X was announced earlier today, and we’ve been lucky to already have had some time to play around with the new device, and we’re fairly impressed. Read on to see what we found out!
Considering that this Snapdragon 801 powered smartphone with a 5.0-inch Full HD display costs just $249 it does raise questions as to whether or not the Chinese upstart can deliver. There will be two versions available of the OnePlus X, an Onyx Black version and a Limited Edition Ceramic version. We’ve been able to take a look at both versions in the gallery below, and as you might expect the 5.0-inch smartphone is nice and compact, easy to use with one hand. The screen looks good, the glass back is a little slippy, but the whole device feels good in the hand and it’s easy to see the average user growing to love this simple design. Despite its low price tag, the OnePlus X feels extremely well-made, and the Chinese firm have done their best to bring over some of the OnePlus 2 DNA over to this more affordable option.
With a similar design language to the OnePlus 2 it’s nice to see that they’ve created a quality budget handset that doesn’t skimp in any one particular area. We’ll have more coverage of the OnePlus X over the next couple of days and weeks, so be sure to check all of that out as well.
