Over the last few weeks and months, in fact, most of the year, HTC has been under increasing pressure to bring to market a device which establishes its place in 2015. This was supposed to be the HTC One M9 although, this was met with some criticism at launch and ever since. As such, the last few weeks has seen intense speculation around a new device that HTC are planning to launch. In preparing for the event, the device came to light as the HTC One A9.
Well, the event has taken place today and HTC has now finally brought an end to much of the speculation surrounding the latest device from HTC. HTC has now this morning confirmed their next major device as the HTC One A9. In terms of the specs, the One A9 comes sporting a 5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the One A9 comes with 3GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 Octa-core processor. Cameras come in the form of a 13-megapixel rear camera which is coupled with a 4-megapixel front facing camera. Storage is set at 32GB, there is the option to expand and the device will come ruining on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.
In terms of availability, the HTC One A9 will be available across the U.S. starting from the first week of November through carriers with details from the carriers to come directly. However, in addition to the standard carrier variants that are on offer, HTC has announced an unlocked SIM-free version which will be available in the U.S. and directly from HTC. Not to mention, HTC has also confirmed that the One A9 unlocked version will also come with the option to unlock the bootloader without any concerns of voiding the warranty. Those who do purchase the HTC One A9 in the U.S. will also be able to make use of six months free Google Play Music subscription. In terms of price, the unlocked version of the HTC One A9 will come in with a $399.99 and for those interested, pre-orders will commence today through HTC’s website with the shipping of devices due to begin in early November.
