HTC hasn’t been doing all that well for a while now. The company was hoping 2015 will be far better than 2014, and that they’ll be able to get to the very top of smartphone OEMs, but that’s hasn’t really happened. HTC’s smartphone sales haven’t exactly met the company’s expectations, and it remains to be seen what will happen next. HTC has released the One M9+ Aurora Edition smartphone quite recently, and also rolled out the Butterfly 3 (J Butterfly) smartphone to a new market. That being said, we’re not exactly here to talk about smartphones, but charity, read on.
This Taiwan-based smartphone OEM has partnered up with Tidal and is throwing a quite massive charity concert in the US, Brooklyn, to be exact. The concert will take place this October, and the lineup is full of worldwide stars like Jay Z, Prince, Usher, Beyonc©, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and so on. Over two dozen artists will participate in the event, and its official name is ‘Tidal X: 1020 Amplified by HTC’. The event will take place on October 20th in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
This is actually first in a series of Tidal-affiliated music events focused on charity, and its goal is to raise awareness and funds to help charity all over the world. All the funds raised by selling tickets for this event (series of events that is) will be donated to charity through the New World Foundation. It is also worth mentioning that artists will collaborate during the event. In case you’re interested, and you’d like to purchase tickets for the concert, you can do it on Friday (12.00PM ET). In case you’re a Tidal subscriber, well, you can get those tickets today starting at 12.00PM ET.
That’s more or less it. It’s interesting to see HTC in this mix, the Tidal partnership was kind of unexpected, but the cause is definitely right. It remains to be seen if the two companies will work together on any other concert venues from this series, or is the Brooklyn event the only one. Speaking of HTC, stay tuned for additional info when it comes to the company’s ‘Hero’ device which will launch in the coming weeks.
