Lenovo sure knows when it has a winner on its hands. The China-based technology company originally launched the K3 Note mid-range smartphone in India earlier this year for a price of Rs. 9, 999 ($155). The phone soon became one of the most sought-after devices in its price-segment, and started selling-out on e-commerce portal Flipkart within seconds every single time it was being put up for sale. With the popularity of the phone at its peak, the company decided to launch a ‘Music’ edition of the device last week, which is now reportedly listed for pre-order on the official Lenovo online store in the country – the curiously named TheDoStore. The Lenovo K3 Note Music will be a limited edition smartphone according to the company and is currently available for pre-order for a price of Rs. 12,999 ($199). Lenovo says, it will start shipping out the phone to customers from the 4th of next month.
Coming to the hardware specs and software features of the K3 Note Music, the internals of the phone remain largely unchanged when compared with the original K3 Note, but the claim to fame of the Music edition is a ceramic speaker on the back of the device for superior sound quality. The phone reportedly also comes with a Smart PA audio chip and the patented ‘Waves MaxxAudio’ technology from American PC manufacturer Dell Inc. According to Dell, “MaxxAudio is a suite of advanced audio enhancement tools from Waves that brings award-winning technologies to consumer electronic devices”. Basically, it is a software feature that is supposed to amplify the audio and produce superior sound quality.
As for a quick recap of the hardware on the Lenovo K3 Note Music, the device retains the same hardware specs with the original K3 Note for the most part as mentioned already, including the 5.5-inch 1080p display panel, the 1.7 GHz octa-core 64-bit CPU and the Mali-T760 MP2 GPU as part of the MediaTek MT6752 SoC, along with the 2 GB of RAM and the 16 GB of storage that comes as standard on the original device. A 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera does the imaging duties, whereas connectivity options include dual SIM support with 4G LTE connectivity on both SIMs, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The smartphone comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Lenovo’s proprietary Vibe UI laid on top.
