Lenovo has a rather significant presence in India as far as smartphone portfolio goes. The company has released a number of devices to India this year, and two more were said to be released recently. It was said that Lenovo plans to announce the Vibe P1 and Vibe P1m in India on October 21st, and that’s exactly what happened today. These two phones actually follow the lead of A1000, A3000 and K3 Note Music which were announced by Lenovo yesterday, so this China-based company has basically announced five devices in India within 24 hours.
Anyhow, the Lenovo Vibe P1 and P1m are somewhat similar, but also different in a way. They share a number of internal specs, but not all of them, and they’re also different in size. Let’s kick things off with the bigger one out of the two, the Vibe P1. This smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display along with Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The phone also sports 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz powers this smartphone, and a 5,000mAh battery is available on the inside. The 13-megapixel shooter can be found on the back of this phone (PDAF included), while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper available up front. The device ships with a fingerprint scanner as well, while it measures 152.9 x 75.6 x 4.6-9.9mm, and weighs 189 grams.
The Vibe P1m, on the other hand, sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS panel with Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735P quad-core SoC clocked at 1.0GHz, and it ships with a 4,000mAh battery on the inside. This is a dual-SIM device, just like the Vibe P1 actually, and sports 2GB of RAM on the inside. The Vibe P1m comes with 16GB of native storage which you can expand via microSD card up to 32GB. The 8-megapixel camera is available on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel shooter is located up front. The Lenovo Vibe P1m measures 141 x 71.8 x 9.3mm, while it weighs 148 grams.
Both of these phones offer 4G LTE connectivity, and ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Lenovo’s Vibe UI installed on top of it. The Vibe P1 comes in Platinum and Graphite Grey color options, while the P1m will be available in Onyx Black and Pearl White colors. The bigger handset is priced at Rs. 15,999 ($246) in India, and will go on sale starting October 27th. The P1m, on the other hand, costs Rs. 7,999 ($123), and will be available starting October 28th. Both of these devices will be available exclusively through Flipkart, and the registrations for the sale start today at 6PM.
