LG has been teasing a new smartphone for a while and we knew it wouldn’t be an ordinary one. At first we all thought it would be the LG G4 Pro, but it turned out to be the LG V10, a gorgeous device with a secondary screen on top of the main one, and dual front-facing cameras. The second screen stays always on, showing notifications, useful information and shortcuts for apps. During its launch, LG didn’t release any pricing information or timeline of availability. Today we just got the news that the new high-end phones will be heading to South Korea starting this Thursday, October 8th.
On the hardware side, this is a really powerful phone. With an hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, it has 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, which you can expand to 2 TB with a microSD card. The V10 features a 5.7-inch QHD quantum IPS screen with a pixel density of 513 ppi (pixels per inch). The rear camera has 16 megapixels, optical image stabilization and manual controls for videos, which can be recorded in HD, Full HD or Ultra HD at either 16:9 or 21:9 aspect ratios. The battery has 3,000 mAh and is removable, which is a good thing to keep it running longer with extra juice. The frames are made of stainless steel and the body features a silicone material called Dura Skin by LG. As for the colors, there are 5 options: Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue, and Opal Blue.
The LG V10 will start selling tomorrow in South Korea for KRW 799,700, which translates to $693. For those who get the phone before October 31, LG will be giving out some gifts like an extra battery and a battery charger to power up the one waiting to be placed in the phone while you use the other one. Other places where the LG V10 is due to land include the U.S., China and other “key countries” in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Although there aren’t any news for Europe yet or information as to when the device will land in the already mentioned regions.
