MediaTek Helio P10 Details Surface Through Benchmarks

MediaTek has managed to become a well-known name in the world of mobile processors. This Taiwan-based SoC manufacturer has released a number of compelling SoCs in the last year or so, and their Helio X10 (MT6795), MT6753 and MT6735 SoCs have been used by tons of OEMs this year. MediaTek’s next-gen SoCs are right around the corner, their Helio X20 (MT6797) deca-core high-end chip is going to launch before the end of this year, and while we’re waiting for that to happen, let’s talk more about the Helio P10 (MT6755) 64-bit octa-core SoC.

The Helio P10 is MediaTek’s upcoming mid-range chip which will basically replace the MT6753 processor used in many mid-range offerings in 2015. We’ve already talked about this SoC, but its benchmarks have surfaced recently, and revealed quite a few details for us to take a look at. This chip will support displays up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) resolution and camera sensors up to 21-megapixels. The 16+8-megapixel dual camera setups will also be supported by this chip, and same can be said about 4G LTE Cat.6. You will be able to record Ultra HD video with the rear-facing camera, and this chip can be clocked up to 2GHz.

A mysterious device powered by this SoC has surfaced on GFXBench, and revealed that the ship will ship with a Mali T860 GPU, which is a significant upgrade compared to the Mali T760 GPU which has been used in both MT6752 and MT6753 SoCs. This new GPU is expected to offer 20% better performance, and also consume 70% less energy than its predecessor. We’ve already shared quite a few Helio P10 details a few weeks back, and this listing has only surfaced to fill in the gaps and pretty much confirms the specs of MediaTek’s new SoC. We still don’t know when exactly will the company release this SoC, but we’re guessing that it will launch alongside the Helio X20 which will definitely arrive before the end of this year. You can expect both of these chips to launch in November or December, and we might also see some Helio X20 and P10-powered handsets to see the light of day before the end of 2015 as well.
