When it comes to gaming on Android, it does seem that Android TV devices like the NVIDIA SHIELD are your best bet. However, Android TV devices can be a little expensive. That is unless you happen to find a random Nexus Player in the bargain bin at your local Target. Other than the Nexus Player, you are looking at upwards of a $100 for an alternative Android TV device.
Of course, you do not have to buy an additional unit and instead, can simply opt to play games on your Android smartphone or tablet, although where is the fun in that? Games are much more enjoyable and best played, when played with your friends and families. Especially when the type of game in question is a game akin to Monopoly. Well, that is probably why Hasbro has released an new version of their Monopoly Here and Now Android app today, which lets you bridge the gap between not needing an Android TV device and yet still being able to play with your family and friends, without having to all gather around your 5 to 5.5-inch smartphone screen.
The new app comes in the form of a ‘Big Screen Edition’ and brings with it support for Chromecast and essentially allows those interested, the ability to play Monopoly on their big screen TV. To further add to its use, up to four different players can take part in the same game together. Of course, for this function, all players do need to make sure they have the app installed on their device and running, but otherwise it is good to go. For those interested, it is not just the Monopoly app either that Hasbro has updated to ‘Big Screen’ status as both the Catch Phrase and Yahtzee Android apps have seen similar updates in the last couple of days. All bringing with them the ability to stream your games to the big screen using a Chromecast and playing with those around you.
