Along with smartphones, the accessories market has also become big business these days, and business savvy companies like Samsung know that only too well. The company has been tying up with various high-end designers and accessory makers to launch cases and other accessories for its flagship smartphones and smartwatches over the past few years, and looks like that trend is likely to continue this time round as well. Through a post on its Samsung Today blog, the South Korean consumer electronics giant has now announced that it has tied up with luxury labels Montblanc and Swarovski to bring premium designer cases and covers for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ premium smartphones.
While this is the third time that Mountblanc and Samsung is tying up to create accessories, the company’s partnership with Swarovski has also been a long-standing one, with its “Swarovski for Samsung” line having produced, among other things, crystal encrusted straps and wristbands for Samsung’s Gear A and Gear S smartwatches previously. This time around, the two will be coming together to bring covers for both the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note5. Each cover will apparently carry as many as 1,300 crystals, to make them both durable and elegant, according to Samsung. Starting next month, there will also be a ‘premium edition’ case for the S6 Edge+ from Swarovski, which will be offered as part of its Edelweiss collection. The case however, will not be available globally, but only released in select markets, and will be available exclusively online.
As for the accessories Samsung is releasing in association with renowned writing instrument maker Montblanc, first off, there’s a new designer stylus on offer for the Note 5, called the Starwalker Urban Speed Screenwriter. There will also be a range of premium leather cases and hard-shell covers for the two latest phablet flagships from Samsung. Two wallets and two flip-covers each for the two devices is what is to be expected from the designer brand, as a result of the collaboration. As for the hard-shell covers, Samsung says that they’ll feature handmade tattoo designs drawn up by artist Mo Coppoletta. The cases and covers from Montblac will also be online-exclusive, and will start shipping by the end of this month, according to Samsung.
