New Samsung Video Shows The Gear S2 Being Unboxed

Samsung’s Gear 2 smartwatch was finally announced last month. It is an interesting device, as it is the first device from the company that uses a fully round display. The implementation of this type of screen is also interesting, as in addition to a touchscreen, it integrates a rotating bezel surrounding the screen to control the on-screen elements while keeping the entire screen visible. Three watches integrate the Gear S2 series, the regular Gear S2 and its 3G version, which are designed to look quite futuristic and there’s also the Gear S2 Classic, which is built to look like a traditional timepiece.

All of them share specs like the 1.2-inch display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and the hardware is rated IP68, making them water and dust resistant. Also, they include 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage in addition to all of the sensors used for health and fitness measurements. Despite running Tizen OS, it’s compatible with many Android devices not necessarily made by Samsung. The Wi-Fi version of the Gear S2 has become available today in the US, retailers like Best Buy or Amazon are already selling the device while some other stores will start displaying the watch to start selling it a little later. The Classic version is expected soon though no specific date has been given, and the version with mobile connectivity will be sold by some carriers later this month.

Now, Samsung has released a video with the official unboxing of the device. We already knew how the box would look like, but now we can see all of its contents displayed on video. The video starts with a circular table divided in three equal parts filmed from the top with a rotating camera, each part of the table is made with different materials and the decoration of each makes reference to a potential target audience. Then each person starts unboxing the device, the regular versions come in a white box regardless of its color, while the Classic version is packed in a black-colored box. The watch is the first thing they see while opening the box and below a lid, there’s a printed Quick Start Guide, an additional band to fit several sizes of wrists, the charging cable and the wireless charging cradle which comes in black or white. Then, we can see the tutorial so that users can get started using the watch. Finally, the watch is shown with some of the different watch faces available.
