Paranormal Activity Game On The HTC Vive To Be Tested In Theaters

Yesterday, HTC announced the One A9, a phone that’s destined for those who want some of the features of the iPhone but like the Android operating system. This fact was even reflected at the official announcement, because instead of focusing on the phone’s internals, what was mentioned was the overall experience that the phone would bring. As part of the experiences to “make life more enjoyable” they mentioned the HTC Vive and they showed a video of the positive reactions that people had after using the VR headset. This particular headset was developed along with Steam VR, but thanks to a variety of sensors and lasers it tracks movements in a very precise way and users can actually move into a room, making the experience more convincing than the one offered by other headsets.

If you want to try it for yourself, HTC has been touring some cities over the world demoing the HTC Vive, but the tour ends on November 6th. Now, there might be a new way to try the headset with a whole new experience, as AMC Theaters and Paramount Pictures will be showing it off with a Paranormal Activity horror game in some US theaters. The new movie of the franchise titled Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension premieres October 22, so users will be able to test the demo version of the game starting that date.

The 15 theaters where the demo will be available are: Baltimore, MD (Loew’s White Marsh 16), Bensalem, PA (Neshaminy 24), Boston, MA (Loews Boston Common 19), Las Vegas, NV (Town Square 18), Lynnwood, WA (Loews Alderwood Mall 16), McLean, VA (Tysons Corner 16), Mesquite, TX (Mesquite 30), New York, NY (Empire 25), Century City, CA (Century City 15), Emeryville, CA (Bay Street 16), Orange, CA (Orange 30), San Diego, CA (Mission Valley 20), San Francisco, CA (Metreon 16), Santa Clara, CA (Mercado 20) and Universal City, CA (Universal CityWalk 19). The details on how the demo will be done are still unknown, but this will be just a taste of what to expect from the full game that will be released in May. The Paranormal Activity game will be available for the Oculus Rift VR, Playstation VR and, of course, the HTC Vive. Regular consoles could also get the game without the VR capabilities. Although the HTC Vive was supposed to launch before the end of 2015, an early 2016 date seems more likely.
