We’ve seen a lot of laptops released in the last couple of years. There are various different laptop offerings out there in the market, powered usually by Windows, Mac or Chrome OS, but there are also a number of Linux variants people install on their laptops as well as desktop PCs. Various smartphone OEMs have started releasing hybrid tablets recently, well… sort of. We’ve seen a number of such attempts, and the most recent one comes from Google. The Mountain View giant has released the Pixel C hybrid tablet during the company’s Nexus event last month.
That being said, a report came in yesterday stating that Huawei is planning to release a laptop of their own. This report actually came in only a couple of weeks after Inventec confirmed that they’ve partnered up with Xiaomi, and that the first Xiaomi-branded laptop will land in early 2016. Yesterday’s report actually revealed that Huawei has registered the ‘MateBook‘ trademark, and along with that laptop report popped up. Now, a new report surfaced saying that BYD Electornics might manufacture the Huawei Matebook laptop. This is actually a China-based component manufacturer which has been manufacturing devices for Motorola in the past. We still don’t have any info whatsoever about this product, not even which OS will it run. It is possible that Huawei plans to introduce a Chromebook, or perhaps they intend to release a hybrid device like the Pixel C? It is hard to believe that Huawei would enter the Windows laptop world at this point, so a Windows-powered laptop is highly unlikely, but we have to be ready for anything I guess.
The Huawei MateBook quite probably won’t launch this year, but if it does, it would certainly be a nice addition to the devices Huawei has already released throughout 2016. This China-based company has introduced various smartphones, along with their Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch, and the MediaPad M2 tablet. Huawei has also managed to become world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer, which is commendable. Only Samsung and Apple are now ahead of Huawei, which really says a lot. Huawei has managed to increase their profits quite significantly in the last year or so, and it will certainly going to be interesting to see what else does this company has to share with us, stay tuned.
