Since the announcement of the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P, consumers have rightfully been excited about the prospect of having a new Nexus device with so many new features, like fingerprint sensors, Android Marshmallow, and of course the use of USB Type-C for charging and data transfer. Throughout the week however, it was discovered that the LG Nexus 5X only comes with a USB Type-C to USB Type-C connector for use with the connection to a computer. This of course, sent plenty of people into an outrage of sorts as they are either left without connecting the device to a computer due to not having one with a USB Type-C connection, or with having to buy the adapter Google has on sale at the Google store for $13.
It would seem however this may not actually be true even though it’s listed as such on the specifications page of the LG Nexus 5X. According to one individual who claims to have called Google and asked them about this particular detail, the Nexus 5X actually does come with a USB Type-C to USB A cable. As stated by the claim, Google refers to the site specifications listing of what’s included with the device is a mistake, and that the cable does come in the box. This would logically make the most sense as one, the Huawei Nexus 6P comes with this exact cable, and two, most people won’t have computers with USB Type-C yet as it isn’t an industry wide standard.
If this is the case then all consumers who were previously or still are currently up in arms over the matter can rest easy, as it looks like the need to buy an additional accessory is no longer there. It’s also important to remember, though, that this should be treated as a rumor since there is no official confirmation from Google about the cable being included with the Nexus 5X. For now, it seems people will simply have to wait until they receive the Nexus 5X in the mail and check in the box themselves before they truly find out if the need the adapter or not.
