Samsung ‘Galaxy S’ line of devices is the company’s pride and joy as far as smartphones go. This Korea-based smartphone OEM has released the first Galaxy S smartphone back in 2010, and has unveiled the sixth iteration of the device earlier this year. Much has changed since the first-gen Galaxy S smartphone, technology has advanced significantly, and Galaxy S6 is one of the best-selling devices this year. Samsung has managed to grab a number of awards for their Galaxy S devices over the years, and has been awarded yet another one recently, read on.
This Korean tech giant has received the Best in Product Carbon Footprint award for the company’s Galaxy S devices. Carbon Trust has been up and running since 2001 to certify carbon footprints in products, and has been doing that with all the Galaxy handsets which were released from 2012 until this day. This award is one of the most prestigious environmental awards, and it has been presented to Samsung for the past four years. The Galaxy S5 has reduced the emission levels by 37% compared to the Galaxy S2, which puts things into perspective.
”As the world’s leading manufacturer of smartphones, we have a responsibility to minimize our environmental footprint. Being recognized for substantially reducing greenhouse emissions across our flagship range of Galaxy smartphones is a great honor,” said Wouter van Tol, Samsung’s European Head of Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability. He also added the following: ”This is thanks to our Planet First approach, where we consider the environmental impact of everything we manufacture, right from the start. We are committed to an on-going program of lowering our impact on the environment, and look forward to making even further progress in this area in the future.”
It is also worth mentioning that Samsung has also received awards for its carbon emissions from Ecological Union, Carbon Trust (UK) and Underwriter’s Laboratories. It seems like Samsung is doing a great job as far as reducing emission levels go, and is currently leading the race in this department, and hopefully they’ll keep on reducing emission levels in the future along with other companies as well.
